Changzhi and Yuncheng in North China's Shanxi province are among the 54 areas that were recently designated as national pilot zones for the inheritance, innovation, and development of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) by the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

The administration has required the local governments that have jurisdiction over these pilot zones to fulfill their primary responsibilities in terms of organizing and implementing construction plans effectively, formulating specific work schedules, allocating construction funds, regularly identifying and resolving issues related to the construction of the pilot zones, as well as periodically reporting on construction progress.

Furthermore, the local governments should carry out further research to achieve institutional reform and policy improvement, both of which will contribute to the future development of TCM.
