Shanxi documentary debuts at Moscow WCM

On April 9, Liu Yingkui, director of the Shanxi Radio and Television Station, presented the documentary Tracing Shanxi Merchants at the "Fresh Content China" promotion event during the 2025 World Content Market (WCM) in Moscow, Russia.

Liu shared, "Tracing Shanxi Merchants is not only a heartfelt tribute to China's rich traditional culture but also a profound dialogue between Chinese business philosophy and global commercial civilization. We hope this documentary will spread the legendary stories of Shanxi merchants and the unique charm of Chinese business philosophy to more people."
The event featured a preview of the documentary, showcasing the epic journey of the Shanxi merchants from pioneering the Eurasian business channel to founding the predecessors of modern Chinese banks, known as "Piaohao". The five-episode series, each approximately 35 minutes long, is available in six languages, including Chinese, Russian, and English, enabling cross-border, cross-language, and cross-cultural dissemination.

Representatives from the Chinese and Russian audiovisual industries expressed great interest in and high regard for the documentary. They noted that the documentary not only highlights the legendary history of Shanxi merchants but also conveys the deep essence of Chinese culture. It has greatly benefited cultural exchange and cooperation between China and Russia.
By showcasing Tracing Shanxi Merchants at this event, the Shanxi Radio and Television Station has offered Russian audiences a new way to explore Shanxi's history and injected new momentum into Sino-Russian audiovisual cooperation and cultural integration.
