Shanxi province recently issued a notification on the upgrade of the "5G+ Industrial Internet" project and the large-scale application of 5G, setting ambitious goals for 2025.

Focusing on "5G+ Industrial Internet", Shanxi aims to continuously enhance the integration of new-generation information technology with manufacturing. The province plans to strengthen its network infrastructure, build a converged ecosystem, accelerate large-scale applications, and promote the deep integration of the real economy and digital economy.

This year, Shanxi will construct 6,000 new 5G base stations and 200 5G virtual private networks, aiming to reach 25 million 5G users. The province will also cultivate 10 provincial-level industrial internet platforms, further enhancing the role of 5G in empowering production and public services to create new business models for 5G integrated applications.

Relevant departments will implement special actions to expand coverage in key areas such as culture and tourism sites, public transportation, and universities, accelerate continuous 5G RedCap coverage at the county level and above, and extend 5G networks to towns and administrative villages.

In addition, Shanxi will promote the construction and application of industrial 5G virtual/hybrid private networks. The focus will be on meeting the extensive needs of enterprises in key industries such as raw materials, equipment, consumer goods, mining, and power.
