Two intangible cultural heritage (ICH) workshops from Shanxi province – Yushe county's Architectural Painting Workshop and Fanzhi county's Shanxi Embroidery Workshop – have been selected in the Ministry of Culture and Tourism's second batch of "Typical Cases of Intangible Cultural Heritage Workshops".

Yushe county, known as the "Hometown of Ancient Architecture", excels in ancient architectural painting and timber construction. Artisans have passed down their skills through oral tradition and hands-on teaching for nearly a century. In 2011, Yushe's architectural painting was designated a provincial ICH representative project.

Fanzhi's embroidery is renowned for its diverse and vibrant floral patterns, showcasing strong local characteristics. The Shanxi Embroidery Workshop, a typical representative of Fanzhi's embroidery, is also one of China's top 20 needlework styles. The workshop aims to provide suitable work for the increasing number of home-based embroiderers.

In the first batch of 66 "Typical Cases of Intangible Cultural Heritage Workshops" announced in 2022, Loufan county's Xuemei Embroidery Workshop was recognized for its "Embroidering a Better Life" case.
