The original Broadway musical Chicago made its Shanxi province debut at the Shanxi Opera Art Center on April 17, offering boundless opportunities for developing the local performing arts industry.

Before the premiere, Shanghai Magnolia Stage Performance Award winner Ren Shujing and China Red Plum Blossom Competition gold award winner Li Guoping joined the three lead actors of Chicago to experience traditional Shanxi Opera movements. The Broadway actors deeply appreciated the unique charm of this traditional art form, creating a fascinating cultural exchange.

A stellar cast, including Sarah Soetaert, Michelle Antrobus, Ian Kelsey, and Linda John-Pierre, brought this authentic Broadway jazz extravaganza to the Shanxi audience with their superb acting, dynamic dancing, and heartfelt singing.

The audience expressed their excitement at being able to enjoy this internationally renowned musical right on their doorstep. They also praised the exquisite design of the show's merchandise and hoped for more international productions in Shanxi in the future.

From April 18 to 20, the original Broadway musical Chicago will have five additional performances in Shanxi. Each show will feature limited edition Chicago-themed commemorative cards and ticket stubs. Attendees participating in on-site activities will also have the chance to receive exclusive stamps.

A lead from Shanxi Poly Theater Management Co revealed plans for further activities, including backstage tours and actor signings, to deepen the audience's understanding of this international musical and attract more people to the theatre to experience its timeless allure.
