In recent years, Shanxi province has made significant strides in carbon reduction, pollution control, green expansion, and economic growth, thanks to the coordinated efforts of the Shanxi Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology in promoting green and low-carbon transformation.

In the steel sector, strict capacity replacement policies have been enforced, accelerating the upgrade of restricted processes and equipment. In the coking industry, all ovens have been upgraded to advanced large ovens of 5.5 meters or higher. The chemical industry has seen the implementation of the "Standards and Management Measures for the Construction of Chemical Parks," with 21 chemical parks recognized, optimizing the industrial layout.

The department has also focused on nurturing and expanding emerging industries. Efforts to accelerate the growth of new industries include the establishment of BYD's fifth-generation hybrid high-end vehicle powertrain system and the designation of 13 provincial-level specialty consumer goods parks. Major projects, such as Jinko Solar's Phase I and Taiyuan Huike, have been put into operation.

Shanxi has gained a nationally competitive edge in high-end equipment manufacturing, particularly in coal machinery and rail transit equipment, with Taiyuan Heavy Industry Railway Transit Equipment Co establishing the world's first "lighthouse factory" in the rail transit equipment sector.

The province has created 133 national-level green factories, eight green industrial parks, and six green supply chain management enterprises, with its manufacturing sector increasingly characterized by higher value, innovation, and sustainability.
