Shanxi's special plan selects 23 research projects
Updated: 2025-05-20
Twenty-three key research projects, led by researchers from Tsinghua University, Xi'an Jiaotong University, Taiyuan University of Technology, and other institutions and companies, made the 2024 "Shanxi Province Major Science and Technology Special Projects Plan" list.
The plan, a non-periodic research funding arrangement organized by the government, aims to address specific economic and social challenges by soliciting technological innovation results. Unlike traditional project application systems, this plan is result-oriented and does not consider the origin of the application, thereby maximizing intellectual potential.
The 23 selected projects span energy and environmental protection, advanced manufacturing, modern agriculture, and biomedicine, aiming to tackle core technological challenges, promote industrial upgrades, and drive high-quality economic development, particularly in the context of Shanxi's economic transformation and energy revolution.
Shanxi encourages universities, research institutions, tech companies, and new R&D organizations to form innovation consortia and apply, while also encouraging private enterprises to lead or participate in applications. There are no age, education, or title requirements for applicants, fostering participation from teams and young talents capable of tackling core technological challenges.
Shanxi has actively explored this approach to organizing major science and technology projects in recent years, effectively promoting the deep integration of industry, academia, and research, and achieving a series of technological innovation breakthroughs.
