The Shanxi Provincial Bureau of Statistics has released data on the province's January to April economic performance. The report highlights stable market sales and rapid growth in trade-in-related products.

The total retail sales of consumer goods in Shanxi reached 253.31 billion yuan ($35.19 billion), a year-on-year increase of 5.8 percent. Retail sales of consumer goods above the designated amount reached 103.12 billion yuan, growing by 7.8 percent. Urban retail sales above the designated amount were 94.56 billion yuan, up 7.8 percent, while rural retail sales reached 8.56 billion yuan, increasing by 7.5 percent.

The trade-in policy for consumer goods continued to have a significant impact. Retail sales of communication equipment, cultural and office supplies, and household appliances and audio-visual equipment above the designated amount surged by 44.7 percent, 36.7 percent, and 32 percent, respectively.

Tourism consumption also saw a notable rise. Key monitored scenic spots in the province received 33.05 million visitors, representing a 16.3 percent increase. Ticket revenue reached 850 million yuan, up 12.9 percent, while operating income totaled 2.13 billion yuan, an increase of 18.9 percent.
