According to a travel trend forecast report released by Trip.com, Shanxi province has become a benchmark for cultural tourism in North China, with a remarkable 42 percent year-on-year increase in travel orders for the upcoming Dragon Boat Festival holiday.
This year's Dragon Boat Festival coincides with International Children's Day, significantly boosting the proportion of family travel orders. Data from Trip.com shows that high-starred family hotels in Shanxi account for 55 percent of the total supply, reflecting strong demand for quality tourism among families.
Li Gaochao, assistant general manager of Shanxi Baohua Shengshi International Travel Agency Co, explained, "During this Dragon Boat Festival, family trips themed around folk culture and cool summer retreats are particularly favored by residents. In terms of destination choices, local and nearby trips are popular."
To better welcome tourists, various attractions in Shanxi have unveiled special offers for the upcoming holiday. Niangziguan Scenic Area in Pingding county has introduced a "Family 2+1" ticket promotion, offering a 99-yuan package ticket that includes two adult tickets and one child ticket. Meanwhile, Dayang Ancient Town in Zezhou county has invited professional teams to perform during the festival, blending intangible cultural heritage with the town's rich historical background.
Li noted that compared to last year, the number of travel inquiries for this year's festival has increased by 150 percent. The age range of travelers is more balanced, with senior citizens and young people being the main tourist forces, setting a positive tone for the upcoming summer travel season.
