Shanxi province is hosting a series of high-profile sports events this summer, injecting new vitality into the region's economy by blending sports and tourism.

The Asian Shotgun Cup 2025 is taking place from June 1 to 12 in Linfen, attracting athletes from 15 Asian countries and regions and marking the first time Shanxi has hosted an international shooting event. Linfen, with its rich sports history, advantageous sports projects, unique tourism resources, and strategic location, aims to create a sports brand that is integrated with urban development.

"Hosting an Asian event for the first time is a great opportunity to showcase Linfen's cultural uniqueness and contribute to our economic and social development," said Feng Yuting, a researcher at Linfen sports bureau.

The 2025 China Tennis Association Tour (CTA Tour) is also being held in Taiyuan from June 9 to 15. To highlight the city's rich historical heritage and modern urban charm, participants, including athletes and referees, are offered free entry to various cultural and tourist attractions, such as the 5A-rated Jinci Museum.

In recent years, Taiyuan has focused on hosting branded events to boost the sports economy and promote sports consumption, aiming to build itself into a sports powerhouse. Zhang Changqing, deputy director of Taiyuan sports bureau, hopes that the 2025 CTA Tour will further enrich Taiyuan's unique sports brand events.

The "Sports + Tourism" model is attracting more people to Shanxi, fostering a love for the province and injecting new momentum into its development.
