Shanxi sees booming summer escape tourism
Shanxi province has ignited the summer tourism market with a remarkable surge in bookings for summer escape tours, as revealed by Fliggy's "2025 Summer Travel Indicator". The bookings for summer routes in Shanxi have seen a 70 percent year-on-year increase, making it a standout destination.
This booming summer escape tourism is thanks to the province's robust marketing efforts. On July 2, Shanxi launched 35 routes under five major themes, including three eye-catching summer escape routes. These routes span from ancient landmarks to hidden mountain retreats, offering tourists a refreshing 22 C summer experience.
Meanwhile, various scenic spots in cities like Jincheng, Datong, and Changzhi have introduced a range of "cooling summer" activities, such as outdoor-themed seasonal activities, electronic music and fireworks festivals, village summer escapes, and family study tours.
To further invigorate the summer tourism market and attract more visitors, the ticket prices for the "Ice Cave Group" at the national 5A-level scenic spot Yunqiu Mountain have been reduced from the original price of 120 yuan ($16.7) per person to just 99.9 yuan per person from July 1 to August 31.
"In addition to Wutai Mountain and Ningwu's perennial ice cave, other cool scenic spots include Wangmang Ridge and Tongtian Gorge," said industry expert Liu Feng. These summer retreats in Shanxi boast climatic advantages and currently offer higher cost-effectiveness compared to destinations in other provinces, ensuring visitors a more relaxing and enjoyable experience.
