Shanxi province has implemented seven major projects, including the protection and utilization of Chinese herbal medicine resources, the modernization of the traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) industry, and TCM technological innovation, aiming to become a TCM powerhouse.

To effectively protect and utilize Shanxi's herbal resources, the Shanxi Key Laboratory of Traditional Herbal Medicines Processing has established five digital information databases, including the distribution information database of Shanxi's herbal resources, the specimen information database, and the herbal cultivation database.

"The digital management of herbal resources holds significant importance for the overall development of the TCM industry," said Laboratory Director Zhang Shuosheng. The laboratory has utilized this data to formulate development plans for herbal medicine in each county, providing scientific guidance for the production of herbal products and regional economic development.

According to Zhang, "Clinical efficacy is the essence of herbal processing." The laboratory continues to conduct differential studies on the treatment of Alzheimer's disease and diabetes using raw and processed Rehmannia, providing safe and rational clinical medication services.

The laboratory has also collaborated with 17 enterprises and three hospitals to establish the Shanxi Herbal Medicine Industry Technology Innovation Alliance, addressing technical production challenges for enterprises.

Shanxi will continue to employ technological innovation and industrial integration to accelerate the construction of a modern TCM industry chain, promoting the TCM industry's high-quality development.
