Shanxi ranks 10th nationwide for H1 retail sales growth
Shanxi province's total retail sales of consumer goods in the first half of this year reached 385.48 billion yuan ($53.72 billion), a 6.1 percent year-on-year increase, surpassing the national average growth rate by 1.1 percentage points and securing the 10th spot nationally.
The Department of Commerce of Shanxi Province has been focusing on expanding traditional consumption, nurturing new consumer trends, and enhancing service consumption. Thanks to a series of policies, the province has showcased remarkable achievements in the consumer market from January to June.
During this period, sales of automobiles, household appliances, and communication equipment increased by 5.9 percent, 38 percent, and 44.3 percent, respectively, contributing to a 5.1 percentage point boost in the province's total retail sales.
Driven by periods such as Dragon Boat Festival, online product consumption continued to rise, maintaining a growth rate of over 30 percent for two consecutive months. In the first half of the year, the province's online retail sales above the designated quota grew by 37.5 percent, contributing to a 3 percentage point increase in total retail sales.
Retail sales of cultural supplies and sports and entertainment goods above the designated quota in the province also grew by 50.1 percent and 47.6 percent, respectively.
