Senior researchers Xiao Fengshou and Wang Liang from the Shanxi Research Institute of Huairou Laboratory were awarded the prestigious 2025 Donald W. Breck Award by the International Zeolite Association for their innovative research in the field of molecular sieve catalytic materials.

The Donald W. Breck Award, referred to as the "Nobel Prize" of the international molecular sieve field, recognizes scientists who have made breakthrough contributions in the creation and functional development of molecular sieves.

Xiao Fengshou and Wang Liang's win marks the first time in the 42-year history of the award that Chinese scientists have independently clinched this honor, breaking the long-standing monopoly of top international teams and showcasing China's innovative research prowess to the world.

Molecular sieves, a type of porous catalytic material, serve as the "heart" of the modern chemical industry and have wide applications in petrochemicals, environmental protection, and new energy development.

Xiao and Wang's research team has dedicated years to the development of molecular sieve catalytic materials, focusing on the efficient conversion of low-carbon molecules. They have achieved a series of groundbreaking results in both fundamental theory and applied technology.

As the team's research progresses and translates into practical applications, it holds the promise of providing stronger technological support for the upgrading of China's chemical industry and the development of a low-carbon economy.
