Thirty renowned enterprises from Shanxi province are engaging in exhibitions, negotiations, and research activities at the 5th China-Mongolia Expo, which is taking place from Aug 25 to 29 in Hohhot, capital of Inner Mongolia autonomous region, aiming to seek new opportunities for international trade cooperation.

The expo covers an area of 43,200 square meters and features four main sections: high-level exchanges, economic and trade negotiations, cultural exchanges, and exhibitions. Shanxi's participating enterprises are displaying over 50 products across food, kitchen, and bathroom supplies, high-end handicrafts, hardware, chemicals, and home goods.

In the food sector, seven liquor companies from Lyuliang city are showcasing the allure of light-flavor liquor, while agricultural companies like Shuomei Gucheng Food Co and Mount Wutai Shanxi Tianyu Agricultural Development Co are promoting specialty products such as oats and quinoa.

Shanxi's high-end handicrafts reflect a blend of cultural creativity and craftsmanship, serving as a bridge for cultural exchange. Exhibits like Jinyifang iron kettles and Jinsha purple pottery, which integrate intangible cultural heritage techniques with modern design, have garnered lots of attention.

In the hardware and chemical sectors, new materials and technological innovation are key highlights, while Shanxi Xihydrocarbon Energy Technology Co's eco-friendly plastic boards and pipes, utilizing plastic instead of wood, cater to the water conservancy and aquaculture sectors.

Shanxi's trade with Mongolia has skyrocketed in recent years. According to the Shanxi provincial Department of Commerce, trade volume between Shanxi and Mongolia has increased from 370 million yuan ($51.71 million) in 2020 to 1.98 billion yuan in 2024, indicating vast potential.
