Shanxi reports 91 b yuan in foreign trade in Jan - Aug

From January to August this year, Shanxi province recorded a total foreign trade value of 91.47 billion yuan ($12.86 billion). In August alone, imports reached 5.69 billion yuan, marking an 8.5 percent year-on-year increase.

The number of active trading enterprises in Shanxi has risen significantly, with 1,962 companies reporting import-export activities – an increase of 207 new companies. Among the key export products, mobile phone parts were valued at 3.89 billion yuan, up 7.1 percent, while lithium-ion batteries saw a remarkable growth of 126.5 percent, totaling 290 million yuan. Agricultural products increased by 10.7 percent to 1.18 billion yuan. On the import side, various metal ores were valued at 16.98 billion yuan, up 7.9 percent.

Notably, bulk commodities demonstrated strong growth. Shanxi imported bulk commodities worth 22.05 billion yuan, an 8.5 percent increase, which raised their share of the province's total imports by 4.6 percentage points to 49.5 percent, boosting the province's import growth rate by 3.8 percentage points.

The Taiyuan Wusu Comprehensive Bonded Zone saw 4.74 billion yuan in exports and imports, growing by 46.2 percent and ranking 99th among 161 such zones nationwide. Meanwhile, the Shanxi Fanglue Bonded Logistics Center reported a 776 percent increase in trade value to 1.96 billion yuan, ranking 17th among 85 similar centers across the country.
