Shanxi's autumn splendor on three 'No 1 Tourist Highway' routes

The Culture and Tourism Department of Shanxi Province has unveiled three "No 1 Tourist Highway" driving routes, inviting travelers to explore the breathtaking natural and cultural wonders along the Yellow River, the Great Wall, and the Taihang Mountains.

Yellow River No 1 Tourist Highway

In autumn, the Yellow River's banks are adorned with vibrant red leaves and bountiful harvests, showcasing a majestic beauty. The scenic landscapes of the meandering Yellow River and its rich historical culture offer an enticing blend of poetry and adventure.

Route 1: From Laoniuwan in Pianguan county to Qikou Ancient Town, Lijiashan village, the First Bend of the Yellow River in Shilou county, and Qiankun Bay in Yonghe county.

Route 2: From Hukou Waterfall to Dayu Ferry, Fengling Ferry, Pujiu Temple, and Guanque Tower.

Great Wall No 1 Tourist Highway

Along the Great Wall, the autumn landscape offers up a tapestry of colors. Here, history echoes through the ancient ruins, and tales of past battles and cultural heritage linger.

Route 1: From Yanmen Pass to Guangwu Ming Great Wall, Chongfu Temple, and Laoniuwan in Pianguan county.

Route 2: From Pingyuantou Great Wall to Xinping Fortress, Baoping Fortress, and through a series of historical sites including Shoukou Fortress, Zhenbian Fortress, and more, ending at the Bataizi Church Tower.

Taihang No 1 Tourist Highway

The Taihang Mountains in autumn boast a palette of oranges, yellows, and greens, offering a stunning visual feast. This route is perfect for nature lovers, history enthusiasts, and those interested in revolutionary culture.

Route 1: From Wangmangling Scenic Area to Kunshan Hanging Road, through the Fozishan Grand Canyon , Feipu Corridor and more, ending at Zheshui Folk Village.

Route 2: From the Taihang Memorial Museum of the Eighth Route Army to historical sites like the Wangjiayu and Zhuanbi headquarters, Huangyadong Arsenal, and the Matian Headquarter.

These routes offer a unique opportunity to experience Shanxi's autumn charm, blending natural beauty with historical depth.
