Xiaoyi Economic Development Zone's chemical park in Shanxi province was ranked 97th in the 2025 Top 100 Chemical Parks for Comprehensive Competitiveness released by the New Materials Industry Research Center of CCID Consulting, making it the province's only chemical park to be included.

This evaluation aimed to provide a comprehensive and objective assessment of advanced market-oriented chemical parks. It established a robust competitiveness evaluation system that assessed 745 chemical parks across four dimensions: industrial foundation, innovation, potential, and transformation, to scientifically determine the final list.

In recent years, Xiaoyi city has consistently upgraded its traditional industries based in the chemical park. The focus has been on the comprehensive utilization of coke oven gas, deep processing of coal tar, advanced processing of crude benzene, new materials for lithium battery chemicals, and fine chemical products.

By strengthening its basic chemicals sector and developing high-end and downstream industries, Xiaoyi has promoted the diversification and high-end development of the coal chemical and fine chemical industries. This has significantly enhanced the park's overall competitiveness.
