The "Shanxi Brands on the Silk Road" event made its way to Italy, hosting the Shanxi-Italy Economic and Trade Cooperation Promotion event in Rome on Nov 25. The event focused on promoting exchanges, conducting visits, and facilitating discussions to deepen collaboration across various sectors between Shanxi and Italy.

The Shanxi delegation visited several key organizations, including the Economic and Commercial Office of the Chinese Embassy in Italy, the City Council of Rome, and the Italian Commerce Association. These meetings aimed to strengthen communication and cooperation, encouraging enterprises to explore new market opportunities.

At the promotion event, representatives from Shanxi enterprises highlighted their competitive industries and recent developments. Italian government officials and representatives from relevant institutions discussed topics such as the joint efforts in cultural preservation and transportation, strategies for Shanxi enterprises to enter the Italian market, and the media's role in China-Italy economic and trade cooperation.

Italy is China's fourth-largest trading partner within the EU, while China is Italy's largest trading partner in Asia. In 2024, the trade volume between Shanxi and Italy reached 3.43 billion yuan ($484.48 million), with major traded goods including rail transit equipment, smartphones, stainless steel, and activated carbon.

The purpose of this economic and trade cooperation event was to help businesses from both sides better understand each other's trade and investment advantages, policy directions, and business environments, thereby providing a platform for enhanced bilateral cooperation.

Following the event, the Shanxi Provincial Committee of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade and the Italy-China Joint Development Promotion Association signed a strategic cooperation agreement to further strengthen economic and trade exchanges between the two regions.
