Shanxi province has maintained fast, steady growth in its service trade, with its export competitiveness continually enhanced during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25).

The growth rate of Shanxi's service exports reached 27.8 percent in the first three quarters of 2025, and 10 of 12 major sectors posted growth rates of over 10 percent. Among them, traditional service trade remained a key driver, while knowledge-intensive service trade continued to grow steadily.

The Shanxi Department of Commerce has taken multiple measures to promote the high-quality development of service trade, such as strengthening policy guidance to foster the growth of market entities, joining with five financial institutions to set up a special loan to boost digital trade, and organizing province-wide business training.

The province has also developed a global promotional brand for service trade, organized local enterprises to participate in overseas exhibitions and carry out brand promotion activities, launched a series of initiatives to advance cultural exports, and built an international online platform for Shanxi's culture and tourism.
