The Shanxi Retail Business Association has released its annual survey on the performance of the province's key retail enterprises, revealing that in 2025, 77 major retail companies in Shanxi achieved total sales revenue of 81.44 billion yuan ($11.73 billion), a 3.44 percent increase from the previous year.

These 77 key retail enterprises span 14 sectors. Shopping centers, automobile dealers, and pharmacies are the most common, with 11, 10, and eight enterprises, respectively. In addition, there are seven enterprises each in the supermarket, home appliance, and digital product sectors.

In terms of sales revenue, shopping centers, automobiles, and online platforms accounted for the largest share, at 65.95 percent of total sales. Shopping centers reported sales of 21.98 billion yuan, representing 26.99 percent of the total. The automobile sector followed with 20.26 billion yuan, making up 24.87 percent, while online platforms generated 11.47 billion yuan, accounting for 14.09 percent.

The overall sales growth rate of Shanxi's key retail enterprises in 2025 was 3.44 percent compared to the previous year. The online sector experienced the most significant growth, with a remarkable increase of 121.68 percent. This surge was primarily driven by consumption stimulus policies, such as trade-in programs, and by the rising influence of live-streaming e-commerce.
