Updated: 2026-03-06
Shanxi province is committed to creating a beautiful environment for the start of the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-30) by strengthening pollution prevention, optimizing ecosystems, and accelerating comprehensive green transformation.
This year, Shanxi's ecological and environmental department will focus on improving air pollution control, with the Fenhe Valley and Taiyuan Basin seeing intensified efforts to tackle air pollution, while continuing to emphasize key urban areas.
In water pollution prevention, the province will implement the Yellow River Protection Three-Year Action Plan, focusing on controlling total nitrogen pollution. Efforts will continue to manage the river's main stream, while expanding inspections and management of river discharge outlets.
Shanxi will advance source prevention and remediation of heavy metal pollution in agricultural land, alongside enhanced soil pollution control for closed or relocated industrial sites. Comprehensive management of solid waste and new pollutants will also be strengthened, with special actions targeting illegal disposal, heavy metal safety risks, and landfill management.
Coordinated innovation in pollution and carbon reduction will be enhanced, with the province promoting greenhouse gas emission impact assessments for key industry projects and accelerating the development of carbon footprint management systems for products and industries.
The ecological and environmental department remains committed to building a beautiful Shanxi, making significant progress in ecological work, and contributing to harmonious coexistence between humans and nature.
