Taiyuan Wusu International Airport recently added four new international transit flights, while Yuncheng Yanhu International Airport is set to launch a direct route to Lhasa in the Xizang autonomous region on March 31, significantly enhancing the connectivity and convenience of Shanxi province's aviation network.

Taiyuan Airport now offers seamless transit flights via Chengdu Tianfu International Airport to Cairo, Melbourne, Rome, and Madrid. Passengers can complete check-in and baggage drop-off in Taiyuan, eliminating the need to recheck their luggage during transit. This streamlines the international transfer process and enhances the outbound travel experience.

As the core aviation hub of Shanxi, Taiyuan Airport continues to optimize its route network and service offerings. During the 2026 spring rush, the airport introduced 18 new routes, reinstated 12 routes, and increased the frequency of flights to major domestic hubs like Shanghai and Guangzhou. Additionally, new direct international flights to Bangkok and Phuket were launched, achieving a flight punctuality rate of 94.59 percent.

Yuncheng Airport's direct route to Lhasa will establish an aerial corridor between Shanxi and Xizang. This will facilitate cultural exchange and economic interactions between the two regions.

As Shanxi's second-largest airport, Yuncheng Airport continues to enhance its service capabilities, recently launching an international service center that offers currency exchange, foreign card cash withdrawals, and multilingual assistance, supporting the region's opening-up and international connectivity.
