Shanxi gymnast wins gold on rings at Osijek World Cup 2026

Chinese gymnast Liu Hengyu, hailing from Shanxi province, delivered an outstanding performance in the men's rings event, clinching his first-ever World Cup gold medal at the 2026 FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Cup held in Osijek, Croatia, from April 9 to 12.
In the rings qualifications, Liu executed a routine with a difficulty score of 5.7, earning 14.266 points and securing the top spot, thus advancing to the finals. The competition was fierce, but Liu maintained his excellent form, scoring 14.366 points to win the championship.
As a distinguished gymnast from Shanxi, on the domestic front, Liu Hengyu claimed the men's rings title in the Group A category at the National Gymnastics Championships in December 2025. At international arenas, he won gold for the Chinese delegation in the rings final at the 32nd FISU Summer World University Games in July 2025.
Liu's victory in Osijek marks a major milestone in his career, highlighting his dedication and skill on the international stage. His achievements continue to inspire young athletes in Shanxi and across China, showcasing the strength and potential of Chinese gymnastics.
