The 25th Chinese (Shanxi) medical aid team to Cameroon donated a batch of medicines and medical equipment to the Mbalmayo District Hospital in Cameroon's Central Region on April 22. This initiative aims to support the development of local healthcare services in the country.
Xiao Guofeng, counselor at the Chinese Embassy in Cameroon, said healthcare cooperation is a vital component of the pragmatic collaboration between China and Cameroon. The donation from the Chinese medical team carries the heartfelt goodwill of the Chinese government and its people.
Nkongo Victorine, director of Mbalmayo District Hospital, expressed her sincere gratitude for the donation. She noted the medicines and equipment would be directly used for patient treatment and care, enhancing the hospital's overall medical service capabilities and benefiting a wide range of patients.
Zhang Chao, leader of the Mbalmayo division of the medical aid team, said the team selected essential medicines such as antimalarials, antibiotics, and antidiabetics, along with surgical instruments, protective gear, and traditional Chinese acupuncture tools, aiming to alleviate the suffering of more patients and promote good health.
Since 1975, China has dispatched 25 medical teams to Cameroon, providing outpatient and emergency services to over 3.3 million people, earning widespread acclaim from the public there. The 25th medical aid team currently operates divisions in both Yaunde and Mbalmayo.
