Shanxi Museum and Datong Museum have both secured spots in the prestigious top 100 list in the 2026 Q1 rankings of the most popular museums nationwide released by the "Chinese Museum Trending Searches". Shanxi Museum ranked an impressive 19th place, while Datong Museum came in 76th.

The "Chinese Museum Trending Searches" is compiled by the Museum Headlines Editorial Department with data support from Art Exhibitions China. The rankings are based on a comprehensive evaluation of 15 indicators and objectively reflect each museum's public attention, exhibition influence, and social service capabilities. Shanxi Museum is among the first national first-class museums in China, boasting a collection of over 650,000 artifacts, including more than 40,000 precious items. It stands as a central landmark showcasing the province's rich culture.

Datong Museum houses over 170,000 artifacts, with more than 3,000 classified as precious. Its collection is particularly renowned for its exquisite artifacts from the Northern Wei (386-534), Liao (916-1125), and Jin (1115-1234) dynasties, making it an important window into the historical and cultural heritage of the ancient city of Datong.
