The Shanxi Provincial Health Commission has long focused on implementing comprehensive prevention and control actions for four major chronic diseases: cardiovascular diseases, cancer, chronic respiratory diseases, and metabolic disorders.

By exploring management mechanisms centered on grassroots efforts, Shanxi is taking multiple measures to strengthen its comprehensive chronic disease prevention and control service system, continuously enhancing its capabilities.

The province plans to establish chronic disease prevention and control centers and to form a provincial expert committee for comprehensive prevention, which will be responsible for guidance, management, monitoring, and evaluation.

Shanxi aims to build county-level chronic disease management centers and expand the prevention and control functions of county-level medical groups, while also developing township-level chronic disease management sub-centers to promote integrated prevention and treatment of multiple diseases. The role of village (community) public health committees will be emphasized to strengthen grassroots health governance.

The province is also optimizing basic public health service projects targeting key populations such as youth and patients with chronic diseases, while standardizing health examination items and enhancing service guidance and interpretation.
