Shanxi's economy holds steady in first five months

In the first five months of this year, Shanxi province effectively implemented proactive macroeconomic policies, resulting in stable economic performance.
In terms of industry, the added value of industrial enterprises above the designated size in the province increased by 3.8 percent year-on-year. Energy production remained stable, with the added value of the coal industry growing by 6.6 percent and contributing 3.9 percentage points to overall industrial growth.
Energy transition efforts continued to make solid progress. The province's installed renewable power capacity grew by 8.2 percent year-on-year, with wind and solar power capacity up 6.1 percent and 10.1 percent, respectively. Energy investment showed a robust growth of 21.2 percent over the five-month period.
The experience economy recorded robust growth, with revenue from household and pet services rising by 21.2 percent and 14.6 percent, respectively. The tourism market also continued to heat up, with key monitored scenic spots witnessing a 21.4 percent increase in visitor numbers, a 3.6 percent rise in ticket revenue, and a 7.1 percent boost in operating income.
New forms of consumption showed promising growth, with online, digital, and green spending expanding rapidly and injecting fresh momentum into the consumer market. Retail sales of wearable smart devices, computers and accessories, and high-efficiency home appliances grew by 96.9 percent, 20.6 percent, and 14.7 percent, respectively.
Health and wellness expenditures in the province's general public budget increased by 13.3 percent in the first five months, while social security and employment spending rose by 3.8 percent. The employment situation improved steadily, with 199,000 new urban jobs created, achieving 44.3 percent of the annual target.
