Shanxi districts honored for building economy excellence

Xiaodian district of Taiyuan city and Pingcheng district of Datong city were named "China's High-Quality Building Economy Development Districts" at the 2026 Building Economy High-Quality Development Exchange Conference held June 27-28 in Taiyuan, Shanxi province.

This prestigious national award is a benchmark in the building economy sector, recognizing districts that excel across several key areas. The evaluation criteria include over 100 quantitative indicators, covering building infrastructure, industrial concentration, service efficiency, economic contribution, supporting facilities, and innovative operations. The award serves as an important measure of modern industrial development and intensive economic growth in urban core areas.

Xiaodian district's inclusion marks its third consecutive year receiving this national accolade. The district boasts 163 commercial buildings, with a total floor area of 5.08 million square meters. It hosts over 5,000 businesses across sectors such as digital economy, finance, modern logistics, and professional services.

Pingcheng district in Datong has developed and now operates 45 commercial buildings that house more than 1,700 enterprises. These businesses span emerging service industries, including finance, technology, cultural innovation, and consulting. Tax revenue generated by these buildings continues to rise, reflecting the district's growing economic strength.
