Intl Cultural Heritage Protection Week to kick off in Jinzhong

The "Shared Beauty, Shared Future" International Cultural Heritage Protection Week is set to take place from July 15 to 21 in the ancient city of Yuci in Jinzhong, Shanxi province, highlighting an open, inclusive, and collaborative international perspective.
The week-long event will feature seven key segments: the opening ceremony and roundtable discussions, the "Discovering Shanxi's Ancient Chinese Architecture" international media tour, a series of academic lectures, a Gen Z construction workshop, themed exhibitions, educational activities, and the production of a documentary aimed at international audiences.

The 2026 "Discovering Shanxi's Ancient Chinese Architecture" tour will invite photographers, painters, and foreign experts to explore cities such as Taiyuan, Jinzhong, and Datong to gain firsthand insights into China's traditional architectural techniques and cultural history, and to share Shanxi's stories globally through short videos, photography, and paintings.
The tour will focus on several iconic cultural heritage sites in Shanxi, including the Yingxian Wooden Pagoda, Xuankong Temple, and Yungang Grottoes, among other world heritage sites and nationally protected monuments, showcasing Shanxi's rich architectural resources and profound cultural heritage.

The tour will also feature dynamic heritage sites, including Xinzhou Ancient City and Datong Dongnanyi Historical and Cultural District, to highlight Shanxi's achievements in cultural preservation and architectural revitalization.
Approximately 30 diplomatic envoys and their delegations from Africa, the Americas, Europe, and Asia have confirmed their attendance, with an additional 10 foreign experts and scholars, along with 10 international journalists, covering the event in Jinzhong, providing a valuable opportunity for the world to witness Shanxi's heritage and understand China's rich history.
