The inauguration ceremony for China's first "Bethune-Style Community Hospital" was held on July 1 at the Baling Bridge Community Hospital in Taiyuan, Shanxi province, marking the hospital as the nation's first facility to receive this distinguished title from the Chinese Bethune Spirit Research Association.

Founded in 2003, Baling Bridge Community Hospital is a comprehensive, modern grassroots medical institution that integrates medical services, public health, wellness, teaching, research, disease prevention, and health maintenance.

The hospital houses the Taiyuan Community Clinical Testing Center, a government-designated facility for respiratory multi-pathogen nucleic acid testing and virus sequencing, which currently offers 319 testing services and collaborates with over 200 medical institutions across Taiyuan.

With an investment exceeding 30 million yuan ($4.42 million), the hospital developed a center that provides integrated services in medical care, elderly care, rehabilitation, and palliative care. It has also implemented a family doctor service model, establishing 10 family doctor teams to offer home visits, rehabilitation guidance, medication procurement, and home care services.

The hospital has achieved significant milestones, including establishing the province's first nationally renowned traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) studio and a five-star standardized TCM center. It has also been recognized as a National Model Community Health Service Center and as one of the country’s Top 100 Community Health Service Centers.
