The Taiyuan sports bureau has announced that the 17th Taiyuan Marathon will kick off on Sept 27. Established in 2010, the marathon has become one of the most influential city road races in Northern China. It holds the prestigious World Athletics Gold Label and is classified as an A1 event by the Chinese Athletics Association.

The marathon has attracted over 600,000 participants from more than 40 countries and regions since it was launched in 2010.

By 2025, 4,302 runners had participated in the Taiyuan Marathon five or more times,158 runners had participated 10 or more times, and 17 had never missed a single race.

Registration for the 2026 Taiyuan Marathon will open soon. Details regarding the starting point, race route, and event categories have not yet been disclosed.
