The 2026 "Life Above Mountains and Rivers" Shanxi Cultural Tourism Experience Season launched on Aug 5 at the Wangmangling Scenic Area in Jincheng, Shanxi province. Focusing on integrating the cultural tourism and wellness industries, the event aims to establish the Taihang Mountains as a premier destination for leisure and wellness vacations.

During the launch ceremony, Shanxi's cultural tourism ambassador Ma Min presented a thematic showcase highlighting the 22 C cool climate of the Taihang Mountains, boutique mountain lodgings, unique wellness experiences, and the region's rich historical heritage. 

The ceremony also unveiled Shanxi's top 10 sojourn experiences, which connect the Yellow River, the Great Wall, and the Taihang Mountain cultural tourism zones, blending unique settings like ancient fortresses, villages, and courtyards, and offering diverse accommodation options, including homestays, wellness stations, and luxury camps.

The experience season also offers over 20 interactive projects, including traditional crafts like Gaoping Fahua ceramics and Lingchuan fabric art, wellness activities such as Taihang herbal tea and traditional Chinese medicine consultations, and trendy business formats like hanfu (traditional Chinese clothing) experiences and coffee blind boxes.

Coinciding with the season's launch is the debut of Wangmangling's Wolongchang Pedestrian Street. From Aug 5 to 11, this pedestrian street invites visitors to explore the charm of the Taihang Mountains and encounter an ideal life amid the 22 C mountain landscape.
