The 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-30) news conference's Jinzhong special session was held in Taiyuan on Aug 19, during which Feng Xiaolei, the mayor of Jinzhong, outlined the city's commitment to integrating into Shanxi province's new development landscape and steadily advancing its transformational development strategy.

As a resource-based city, Jinzhong is actively promoting the development of five key sectors: high-end equipment, low-carbon recycling, new materials, specialty consumer goods, and emerging and future industries. These efforts aim to strengthen its foundation for high-quality industrial growth.

In its quest to become a national youth development city, Jinzhong is focusing on expanding education, employment, and entrepreneurship opportunities for young people. The city plans to provide comprehensive support in housing, education, and healthcare, with the goal of doubling the number of local university graduates who choose to stay in Jinzhong.

During the 15th Five-Year Plan period, Jinzhong plans to enrich its cultural and tourism offerings, optimize industry structures, and introduce international cultural and tourism brands. The city aims to transform its tourism sector from traditional sightseeing to immersive experiences through the "cultural tourism+" initiative.

As Shanxi's only national-level agricultural high-tech zone, Jinzhong plays a crucial role in the development of organic dry farming. The city is committed to advancing integrated technology trials and accelerating demonstration and promotion efforts. By 2030, it aims to establish over 60 national and provincial agricultural technology innovation platforms, positioning organic dry farming as a significant brand in modern Chinese agriculture.
