The Jincheng special session of the "15th Five-Year Plan (2026-30)" news conference was held in Taiyuan on Aug 28, where Jincheng Mayor Liu Zhenhua announced plans to establish culture, tourism, and wellness as the city's cornerstone industries for enhancing public welfare and happiness.

Jincheng boasts the stunning scenery of the Taihang Mountains and is home to 117 ancient castles and 150,000 buildings of Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties. The city has also been recognized as a "Climate Livable City" in China.

Mayor Liu emphasized Jincheng's commitment to expanding and enhancing its service sector through the "Service+" initiative. This aims to strengthen its modern logistics and technology information services, optimize dining and leisure services, and invigorate e-commerce and cultural performances, exceeding 130 billion yuan ($19.34 billion) in the added value of the service sector by 2030.

The city is also investing in emerging sectors such as the low-altitude economy, AI, and new energy storage, fostering new economic growth engines.

Jincheng's cultural and tourism appeal has surged in recent years, with attractions like the Tiefo Temple and Yuhuang Temple gaining popularity and the Taihang No 1 Tourist Highway becoming a top choice for road trips.

Vice-Mayor Yang Xiaolei highlighted plans to integrate Jincheng's ancient architecture, folk heritage, and Taihang landscapes, develop Wangmangling Scenic Area and Situ Town into 5A-level tourist attractions, and establish the Taihang Ancient Fortresses and Fengcheng Wellness Demonstration Zone as national tourism resorts, creating a diverse cultural and tourism product matrix.
