The "Tea Chat with Ambassadors" & International Dialogue on Energy and Low-Carbon Development, a thematic event of the 10th Taiyuan Energy Low Carbon Development Forum (TELC), took place in Taiyuan, Shanxi province, on Sept 5.

The international dialogue welcomed former foreign dignitaries, ambassadors to China, leaders of international organizations, and representatives from domestic universities, think tanks, and enterprises.

During the opening remarks, Dendeviin Terbishdagva, former deputy prime minister of Mongolia, emphasized the potential for deepening cooperation between Mongolia and Shanxi in energy storage, smart grids, green hydrogen, and renewable energy to jointly advance green transformation in Northeast Asia.

Juan Carlos Solis, director of Mexico's National Energy Commission, stated Mexico's goal to increase the share of clean energy to 38 percent by 2030. He expressed keen interest in collaborating with Shanxi to transform resource-dependent regions, utilize coal mine methane, and advance carbon capture and storage, ensuring energy transitions contribute to national development and public welfare.

During the dialogue session, international and Chinese guests held in-depth discussions on bridging gaps in technology, funding, and governance in global energy transitions; aligning green development experiences with the UN Sustainable Development Goals; Shanxi's role amid global energy shifts; and topics such as green standards and climate finance.

Participants also explored Shanxi's intangible cultural heritage, viewed thematic promotional videos and artistic performances, and enjoyed local tea ceremonies. Through these cultural exchanges, they gained a deeper appreciation of Shanxi's rich history and cultural charm.

By integrating international dialogue with cultural experiences, the event created a new platform for Shanxi to expand international cooperation in energy, trade, technology, and culture.
