Shanxi selected as national computing power interconnection hub
Updated: 2026-09-29
The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has announced the list of regions designated as national computing power interconnection hubs, with Shanxi among the 17 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities selected.
These hubs are strategic areas with high demand for computing power. The goal is to integrate data centers, supercomputing centers, and intelligent computing centers nationwide, achieving unified identification, interfaces, and scheduling to eliminate the "computing power silo".
Prioritizing the development of its computing power industry, Shanxi has implemented a series of regulations and policies to integrate into the national unified computing power system. As a result, the province has optimized its computing power structure and expanded its industry scale, achieving significant progress.
The province currently boasts 514,000 standard computing center racks in use, with intelligent computing power reaching 32 EFlops, placing its overall computing power index among the nation's top.
Shanxi's computing power industry ecosystem is rapidly taking shape, attracting major companies like Douyin and Baidu. Major initiatives, including the Pan-Beijing Area-Taihang Mountain Computing Power Base, are operating smoothly and building a comprehensive industrial chain spanning equipment manufacturing, infrastructure, and service applications.
Application scenarios are expanding, with a focus on key sectors like energy and manufacturing. Shanxi has implemented "AI+" demonstration projects, built 298 smart coal mines, and launched the country's first provincial-level coal industry internet platform, further empowering Shanxi’s real economy through computing power.
