The first navy-themed cultural park in Taiyuan, capital of North China's Shanxi province, started construction in local Yingze district on June 13.

The city will build a navy and science and technology-themed cultural park featuring movie screenings, cultural creativity, performances, fairs, exhibitions, and catering services at the original site of Navy 802 Factory.

The No 802 Factory • 1988 Naval Culture Park is expected to consist of nine halls and 12 commercial venues.

Among the halls, the "Taiyuan Ship • Immersive Experience Exhibition Hall" is an exhibition center that will focus on 3D printing, immersive imaging and virtual reality experience.

After its completion, the park will provide jobs for nearly 100 retired soldiers and become a cultural, creative and entertainment destination for Taiyuan locals.

The park, with an investment of 150 million yuan ($22.39 million), has already started internal maintenance and equipment renovation.
