During the May Day holiday‌, tourists flocked to Taiyuan, capital of North China's Shanxi province, with the city's major scenic spots, museums, parks, and leisure districts welcoming ‌6.16 million visits‌, an ‌8.4-percent increase year-on-year.

The holiday was enlivened by nearly ‌500 cultural and tourism events‌ hosted across the city's tourist attractions, historic blocks, theaters, and cultural venues, enriching the holiday experience for both residents and visitors.

With its abundant floral resources, Taiyuan curated a festive blend of flower-viewing, culture, and entertainment, showcasing the vitality of its ‌"floral tourism economy". At Shuangta Park, over 10,000 peonies, including the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) variety Zixiaxian, bloomed brilliantly.

The Taiyuan Botanical Garden dazzled visitors with vibrant displays of peonies, tulips, lilacs, and peach blossoms. Yingze Park and Jinyang Lake Park also held peony and tulip exhibitions.

The city's cultural, tourism, and heritage institutions highlighted Taiyuan's culture through exhibitions, performances, and markets. At the Jinci Temple Museum, Taishan Museum, Shuangta Museum, and Taiyuan Botanical Garden, events like ‌hands-on workshops, heritage art displays, and craft fairs‌ consistently drew large crowds, earning enthusiastic praise from visitors.

Major attractions such as Jinci Tianlong Mountain, Taishan, Mengshan, and Shuangta Museum ‌extended opening hours‌, while select sites introduced ‌night tours‌ to further captivate visitors.
