Taiyuan, capital of North China's Shanxi province, outlined the key achievements and plans for 2025 urban construction on May 8, aiming to build a modern city that is livable and smart through four major tasks: improving road networks, urban organic renewal, protection of historic and cultural heritage, and transformation of the construction industry.

Road network enhancement‌

This year, Taiyuan plans to carry out construction and renovation projects on over 50 streets and alleys, focusing on housing delivery guarantees, urban village renewal, and public service facility upgrades.

Urban renewal‌

In the past five years, the city has identified and resolved pressing issues such as parking shortages and insufficient charging infrastructure. Since 2020, Taiyuan has renovated 3,497 old residential communities, installed 1,022 elevators, and replaced 310 outdated ones.

Historic and cultural preservation‌

The city completed legislative regulations and approved multiple conservation plans, conducted comprehensive surveys to identify historical resources, and implemented renewal projects for historic districts.

Construction industry transformation‌

Taiyuan has optimized its business environment to cultivate market entities, addressing companies' challenges and supporting their growth. It advanced digital transformation in construction, encouraged companies to apply for designation as national and provincial prefabricated building demonstration bases, and strengthened collaboration with outside construction firms to stabilize the industry's foundation.
