Registration has now opened for the 2025 Taiyuan Marathon, which will be held on Sept 21 at Wuyi Square.

Started in 2010, the Taiyuan Marathon became a China Athletics Association gold road race in 2013 and a World Athletics gold label road race in 2019.

The 2025 event features four competition categories: a full marathon (42.195 kilometers), a half marathon (21.0975 km), a health run (5 km), and a fun run (5 km).

The total participant capacity is 40,000, allocated as follows: 15,000 for the full marathon, 18,000 for the half marathon, 3,000 for the health run, and 4,000 for the fun run (which must include one or two adults and one child).

Registration will run until 24:00 on July 15. If any category receives more applicants than its limit, a lottery will determine eligibility. Draws will occur from July 16 to 21, and results will be announced at 14:00 on July 22.

This year's marathon uses a "pay first lottery" model. After submitting registration, payment must be completed within 15 minutes; otherwise, the order will expire. Applicants can register via the official Taiyuan Marathon website, WeChat account, or Digital Heartbeat App following on-screen prompts.

All entrants may request a refund before 24:00 on July 15. Unsuccessful lottery applicants will receive refunds via their original payment method within 15 working days of result publication.
