Five agricultural products from Taiyuan, capital of North China's Shanxi province, namely Yangqu millet, Qingxu grape, Qingxu Shajin red apricot, Loufan potato and Qingdepu sweet potato, have received geographical indication recognition, according to a recent announcement by the China National Intellectual Property Administration.

Taiyuan is currently home to 13 geographical indications (including geographical indication certification trademarks and geographical indication products), indicating that its characteristic products have entered a new stage of high-quality development led by geographical indications.

Since the China National Intellectual Property Administration launched the transformation of agricultural products' geographical indications in August 2024, the Taiyuan municipal administration for market regulation (intellectual property administration) has strengthened coordination with relevant departments in counties, county-level cities, and districts related to the protection of agricultural products' geographical indications, laying a solid foundation for this successful identification.
