Thirty participants from the "technical training program for grassroots medics from developing countries," organized by the Ministry of Commerce and the Shanxi Provincial Health Commission's talent center, visited Taiyuan No 2 People's Hospital on Aug 6 for exchange and learning. These trainees hailed from countries including Grenada, Zimbabwe, Cameroon, Panama, Mexico, Iraq, and Togo.
Li Xuhong, director of the department of geriatrics, and Jiao Leping, director of the department of critical and palliative care, shared insights on the "practice and exploration of geriatrics" and the "development and practice of palliative care".
Participants toured the geriatric department, critical palliative care unit, and traditional Chinese medicine department, engaging with medical staff members. They learned about the personalized services provided by multidisciplinary teams for the elderly, the precise treatment plans for chronic diseases, one-stop unaccompanied full-process services for disabled elderly, and professional pain management and considerate psychological support for end-stage patients.
