Taiyuan city in Shanxi province has recently secured a spot on both the"2025 Top 100 Digital Cities" and "2025 Top 100 Digital Economy Cities" lists released by the China Center for Information Industry Development's CCID Consulting, ranking 41st and 36th, respectively.

The "Top 100 Digital Cities" list evaluates cities based on their overall development in digital infrastructure, technological innovation, and digital governance and services. Meanwhile, the "Top 100 Digital Economy Cities" list assesses cities on the competitiveness of their digital industries, as well as the scale and efficiency of digital transformation within traditional sectors.

Currently, the construction of digital cities has entered a new phase. New-generation information technologies, such as artificial intelligence, computing networks, and data elements, are rapidly being integrated into various applications, providing new momentum for urban governance, industrial development, public services, and green, low-carbon growth.

In recent years, Taiyuan has accelerated the development of its digital industry ecosystem, forming a digital industry cluster. The city has also established a comprehensive policy service system for the digital economy, with a strong focus on supporting enterprises, industrial parks, projects, and products.

In 2024, Taiyuan's core digital economy industries generated an added value of 34.7 billion yuan ($4.87 billion). Additionally, the city's 21 key internet and related service enterprises reported a total revenue of 2.7 billion yuan, reflecting a 4.99 percent year-on-year growth.
