Datong welcomed 15.1 million visitors in the first eight months of this year, an impressive 18.03 percent increase from the previous year. Ticket revenue also surged, reaching 560.89 million yuan ($78.72 million), a 19.19 percent rise.

The introduction of a 240-hour visa-free transit policy and new direct flight routes has further propelled international tourist arrivals, which soared by 63 percent in the first half of the year.
