Datong boosts e-commerce for rural vitalization
Yungang district's e-town in Datong is forging a pioneering path in rural e-commerce by nurturing key industries, incubating enterprises, and enhancing brand value.
The district has focused on three core product categories: dairy, oils, and astragalus, while also supporting the growth of handmade vinegar and greenhouse vegetable cooperatives, and developing a unique category of coal sculpture handicrafts.
Authorities now support enterprises in participating in live-streaming sales events, with Datong Huajian Oil Products Co achieving sales of over 1.7 million yuan ($243,960) in 2025 through these efforts.
An agricultural product traceability platform has been established, featuring weather and soil monitoring devices and embedded traceability mini-programs for companies.
The district has supported over 10 e-commerce enterprises and established five new ones. Promotional videos have been produced for companies such as Mutong Dairy and Kouquan Vinegar, as well as over 20 promotional videos and short series for other entities.
Yungang has introduced three training institutions, offering courses in short-video influencer sales training, live e-commerce host training, and e-commerce live-streaming instructor training, with 1,200 participants trained.
The district has also enhanced its logistics by implementing automated intelligent sorting equipment and establishing a comprehensive distribution system.
