Datong is utilizing its rich historical and cultural heritage to bolster tourism industry, crafting unique cultural IPs that reflect the city's history and culture.

The city's ancient streets and alleys, lined with historic buildings, are a source of nostalgia for Datong's residents and serve as a living museum for tourists eager to explore its cultural landscape.

The Dongnanyi Historical and Cultural Block, with its traditional courtyards and historical architecture, offers a series of immersive experiences in traditional crafts.

Datong plans to further utilize this historical and cultural block by attracting workshops and cultural enterprises, fostering the development of cultural creative products.

Digital technology plays a crucial role in this effort. At the Yungang Grottoes, an ultra-immersive digital light and shadow exhibition, supported by XR technology, breathes new life into cultural heritage.

Through digital modeling, interactive sensing, and large-scale space projection, visitors can virtually travel back to the Northern Wei Dynasty (386-534), marveling at the intricate statues and experiencing the ancient art of grotto carving.

Datong is utilizing VR/AR, AIGC, and other advanced technologies to develop immersive performances, digital museums, and digital collections, aiming to create innovative digital applications and promote the industrialization of micro-dramas, digital cultural products, and online performances.
