The direct flight route from Datong, Shanxi province, to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, is set to resume on July 4, catering to the summer travel needs of tourists from Shanxi and advancing the province's international tourism market.

This relaunch aims to invigorate cultural and tourism exchanges between China and Mongolia, offering an easy grassland getaway for travelers from Shanxi and neighboring areas, while providing Mongolian visitors with access to Shanxi's cultural riches.

Operated by Mongolia's Hunnu Air, the route will operate on Tuesdays and Saturdays and take less than two hours. The outbound flight, MR856, departs Datong at 7:10 pm and arrives in Ulaanbaatar at 9:00 pm. The return flight, MR855, leaves Ulaanbaatar at 4:30 pm and lands in Datong at 6:10 pm.

Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia, boasts an average summer temperature of 21 C, combining picturesque grassland landscapes with urban life, making it an ideal summer destination for those seeking respite from the heat and a taste of exotic culture.

Datong, a historical capital of China, offers attractions like the Yungang Grottoes and the Xuankong Temple, as well as leisure spots like Weidu waterpark and Fantawild Adventure.

The resumption of this flight route is expected to boost inbound tourism and enhance Shanxi's integration into the Belt and Road Initiative and the China-Mongolia-Russia Economic Corridor, fostering comprehensive cooperation in culture, tourism, and trade.
