The Shili River winds like a green silk ribbon through Datong's Zuoyun county, with its banks attracting locals and visitors for exercise and holiday activities.

This picturesque scene is the result of restoration efforts initiated by authorities in 2007, transforming the riverbanks into an ecological park that blends conservation, cultural experiences, and leisure.

These ecological enhancements have drawn flocks of wild ducks and other birds, reduced soil erosion, and increased forest and grass coverage.

As a significant tributary of the Sanggan River, the Shili River is bordered by historical treasures, including Liao Dynasty (916-1125) palaces, military fortresses from the Ming and Qing dynasties (1368-1911), and the Baiyangcheng Han (206 BC-220) site.

The park is divided into distinct functional areas, such as the Historical and Cultural Exhibition Area, the Ecological Shelterbelt, and the Landscape Area.

Through these initiatives, the county has restored the river's ecosystem and paved the way for the harmonious development of ecological protection, community welfare, and tourism.
