Datong posted stable, positive economic performance in the first half of this year, reflected in steady growth in urban residents' income. Per capita disposable income rose to 21,273 yuan ($3,171), up 897 yuan from the same period last year, with a year-on-year increase of 4.4 percent.

This growth is attributed to a series of measures implemented by authorities, including hosting 391 job fairs that offered over 87,000 positions and led to 25,800 new jobs.

Additionally, 6,020 individuals received vocational skills training. Minimum wage adjustments and encouragement for enterprises to establish regular wage-growth mechanisms have ensured a fair increase in workers' incomes.

Authorities have further accelerated income growth by strengthening industries and promoting economic transformation, with the tertiary industry's added value reaching 56.52 billion yuan.

The city has enhanced social welfare to secure income growth, distributing various subsidies, including childcare subsidies, to 47,010 individuals, totaling over 100 million yuan.

The city has also allocated more than 300 million yuan to support over 200,000 low-income urban and rural residents, and has raised living-standard subsidies for people with disabilities and nursing subsidies for those with severe disabilities.

By the end of May, subsidies had been provided to 13,341 individuals in extreme poverty and 8,710 individuals in need of temporary assistance.
